FRESH PERSPECTIVE 102

Grant Writing & Proposal Writing Workshop

Are you an artist, performer, musician, filmmaker, playwright or other creative and talented person  looking to get a government grant towards your own practice? This workshop is for you.

Workshop: 2-3 hours

Facilitator: Clayton Windatt

Cost: by donation / pay what you can

Clayton Windatt will bring participants through a brief introduction to grant writing, creating context for projects and tangible steps that can be taken that will increase your chances of getting arts grants. This half-day workshop will offer participants;

  • Understanding Peer Assessment

  • Support in Building an Arts Profile

  • Discussion on Grant Strategies

  • Clarity in Making (Budgets, Schedules, Artist Statements)

  • Evaluation of Context

  • Sharing Content, Meaning and Understandings

Clayton has 25 years experience working in the arts and has successfully secured hundreds of arts grants from all branches of government. Over this time conditions, priorities and processes have changed many times and will continue to change.  In this workshop, Clayton prepares participants by building and/or deconstructing their own processes for applying for grants and exploring options that can strengthen artistic statements, pans, budgets and support materials. Consideration of overall positionality in relation to any given subject will be a constant narrative as understanding the context and perspective that is being created within a grant is key to the grants success.
